Connector inaugurated at Brussels Airport

13:38 25/03/2015

After years of work, Brussels Airport has completed the construction of the Connector, a new building that connects the passenger terminal to Pier A, requiring less time for travellers to walk from check-in to the departure gate, reports brusselnieuws.be.

"Previously, passengers had to go through a long underground tunnel," Brussels Airport’s media relations manager Anke Franssen told FM Brussel. "From now on, passengers can stay above ground, and the security and shops are closer together, saving them a lot of time." The connector will save travellers 10 minutes of transit time within the airport.

The connector, which is the most important innovation at Brussels Airport since 2002 when Pier A was built, is a project that required four years of preparation work, two years of construction, and a total investment of €75 million.

The connector’s inauguration was attended by King Philippe and Prime Minister Charles Michel. The event started with one minute of silence for the 150 victims of Tuesday’s Germanwings plane crash in the French Alps.
