Brussels tourism sees cautious revival

01:22 31/07/2017

The Brussels hotels this summer report an occupancy rate of 70%, and museums and tourist attractions in the capital are also seeing more visitors than in past years, writes Bruzz. The tourism sector appears to have rebounded from 2016, when tourist numbers took a nose dive following the March terror attacks.

According to the Brussels Hotel Association (BHA), the 70% occupancy rate for the month of July is “the same level as in the summer of 2015," said BHA's Rodolphe Van Weyenbergh in La Dernière Heure.

More tourists also mean more visitors for the city's attractions, including the Royal Museums of Fine Arts which welcomed 53% more visitors in July compared with the previous year. Mini Europe reported 21% more visitors.

Recent special events in the capital have also contributed to the tourist influx, including two sold-out Coldplay concerts.
