Amazon - shipment to Belgium

Question

Just for info - Received the following email dated the 4th stating no longer free delivery to Belgium from the 3rd!! -- To avoid last minute orders before the deadline. -- Well - Will certainly reduce my spending with them -- BUT - in a nutshell -- you will no longer get free amazon delivery from UK to Belgium

As you've previously had orders delivered to Belgium, we wanted to let you know that our delivery options to Belgium are changing. From April 3, 2014, FREE Super Saver Delivery will no longer be available. You'll have the option of Standard or Priority Delivery for orders being delivered to Belgium.

More information about international delivery rates and times can be found here.

We strive to provide our European customers the greatest possible selection at low prices and hope to see you again soon.

I have signed the petition and emailed them. If enough people do it they may be forced to rethink.

Amazon own The Book Depository so you won't be making a protest using them!

I had a conversation with the CS. Reply from Amazon...

Hello,

Further to our recent chat conversation, I am updating you through an e-mail.

I understand your concern regarding the removal of the Free Super saver delivery option to Belgium.

We ended our FREE Super Saver Delivery service to Belgium on 3 April, 2014. This service provided free dispatch and delivery on eligible orders over GBP 25.00.

Please note that this change will not affect any orders for items not in stock placed before 3 April, 2014 where you’ve already selected FREE Super Saver Delivery.

I'm very sorry if you're unhappy about this change.

You can find our current international delivery rates on our help page:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=11072981

We are always working to serve our international customers better. However, as policy, we do not comment on any possible expansion plans. So we are unable to confirm if or when the Free Super saver delivery option will be back again.

Please know that all our customers, international and at home, are very important to us and I have passed your suggestion along to the appropriate department.

I would like to assure you that all your comments will be reviewed.

Customer feedback such as yours helps us to continue improving the selection and service we provide. We appreciate the time you've taken to write to us.

Your patience and understanding in this matter is very much appreciated.

I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

I buy every month baby staff from amazon.de. Their prices are the cheepest every time I compare them with the FR or UK version. The conversion EUR/GBP also bothers me as my salary comes in EUR.

Damn!!

I will then use more and more this amazon comparison site, that includes shipping costs.. Pricenoia (https://pricenoia.com).

From their site:

Pricenoia compares prices on every Amazon store

In your currency including shipping costs to your country
Buy when the price is right with our detailed price chart
Set alerts and receive an email when the price drops
Discover daily and hourly price drops in any category

maybe it's useful to you too!

This change apparently applies also to DE store. I was trying to get few items where normally I would get free delivery and I was being charged. Indeed, it's a huge change for all the affected countries. I will definitely look for another online retailer. Free shipping to BE was the primary reason I would use UK Amazon (along with very good prices when compared to DE and FR). Thanks and goodbye Amazon. It has been a nice ride :/

Another point of irritation with Amazon:
They won't sell to Belgium
*-their Kindle readers
*-usb sticks
*-external hard disk drives
*-blank dvds
*-a Philips radioclock
*-MP3 players

(nor amazon.co.uk, nor amazon.fr)
