Youth invited to enter Eurostar foodie contest

20:53 27/02/2018

Teenagers in Belgium have the chance to see a meal they’ve concocted themselves served on the Eurostar train. Youth aged 15 to 19 from Belgium, the UK and France are eligible to enter the contest, called Create a Sustainable Business Premier Dish.

Entries must be made up of recipes that are healthy, taste great, use seasonable products and present well to Eurostar’s business-class travellers. The menus can be for either lunch or dinner.

The winner will be chosen by British Michelin-star chef Raymond Blanc. The dish will be served to business-class passengers on Eurostar for three months, starting in November.

The winner will also get to travel to Blanc’s restaurant hotel in Oxfordshire for a lesson on sustainable cooking. Then the pair will travel to the Eurostar kitchens to refine and perfect the meal.

The winning meal of the first edition will premiere on Eurostar trains on 26 April. Those interested in entering for the next edition have until 29 June to get their idea in.

It’s the second edition of the contest, which is organised locally by GoodPlanet Belgium. The Brussels-based organisation works to educate the public – including through schools – how to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
