Walibi voted Belgium's best amusement park

11:21 11/05/2016

During the sixth edition of the Diamond Theme Park Awards on Tuesday, Belgium's Walibi was selected as the country's best amusement park. About 45,000 people took part in the online vote for their favourite amusement parks in several categories, before a jury decided on the final winners, writes Het Nieuwsblad.

Walibi (pictured) is the best theme park in Belgium, according to the voters, and also comes in first place in the categories Best Thrill Park and Best Halloween Theme Park. The most child-friendly theme park in Belgium is Plopsaland De Panne. Plop Aqua scores the highest in the category Best Water Park. The prize for Best Rollercoaster also goes to Plopsaland De Panne, according to the jury and public, with its Anubis The Ride leading the list.

For the best non-rollercoaster attractions, the place to be in Belgium is Bobbejaanland in Lichtaart, Antwerp province. The best zoo is Pairi Daiza near Mons, where the tiger temple was voted the most beautiful animal sanctuary in the country. The Walloon zoo was also awarded first place in the category Best Theme Park Food. The award for Most Beautiful Birth in captivity goes to the Antwerp Zoo, which welcomed a new okapi earlier this year.
