Wage Watchers: How much does a salesperson earn?

What’s your line of work?
I work as a salesperson an interior design shop. I work the curtains and paints departments and I make €1500 net per month.

Do you like your job?
Absolutely! It’s a nice, varied job. Thanks to the contact with the clients, every day is something new. My colleagues are great, which is also important. I go to work happily every day.

What do you think of the salary?
I’m quite satisfied, especially since I just got my first raise a little while back. That was very welcome, because before that I thought the wages were a bit on the low side – especially since I work every Saturday.

How many hours to do you work per week?
I work 38 hours per week and occasionally on Sunday.

Do you save?
I try, but right now it’s not really possible. At the moment I’m paying off a lot on my apartment and I have other costs as well.

What’s your biggest cost?
The mortgage on my apartment.

What do you hate spending money on?
Nothing comes to mind right away. (Laughs)

What do you like spending money on?
I have a weakness for makeup, gel nails and clothes. I also don’t money spending money on fun activities. And I love going out at night.

What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would convert my apartment into a lovely little home with all the trimmings. And I would take a trip around the world.
