Wage watchers: How much does a furniture store manager earn?

With €820 per month,  Julie Declerck, 24, from Bruges can afford a job she loves.

What do you for a living?

For the last four months, I’ve been employed by Meubis, a furniture store in Maldegem with an extensive online store. On my business card it says “Service Manager”. I answer clients’ questions by telephone and follow up on current orders.

Do you enjoy your job?

Yes, a lot. I have a degree in business management and fiscal accounting and previously I worked as a consultant in the accounting sector. It wasn’t easy to do something totally different, but this job gives me a lot of satisfaction.

There is quite a lot of variety in the day, which makes every workday unpredictable. Contact with clients is sometimes pretty stressful, but the cool colleagues and nice atmosphere make up for that!

How many hours do you work in the week?

This is a part-time job. I work 19 hours per week.

Are you satisfied with your salary?

Yes, I don’t think I will change jobs anytime soon. I like doing it and it gives me a tidy sum at the end of the month.

What does most of your salary go to in the month?

The biggest chunk out of our budget goes undoubtedly to the mortgage on our house.

What do you dislike spending money on?

Expensive cars don’t attract me much.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Hmm, I’d pay off and sell our currently home. I would love to have an apartment with a view on the sea. And travel! I want to see the world. Then, if there was anything left, I would invest in real estate.
