VTM television goes online

VTM has announced it will broadcast full episodes of most of its television programmes for free on its website and apps for up to four weeks. With the move, the Medialaan commercial broadcaster becomes a trailblazer in the Belgian TV world.

This summer, VTM already offered popular series such as Familie and Met vier in bed online, and the success was so great that the channel decided to put all of its content online. There is no option to fast forward through advertising shown during the online episodes, a “major asset” for advertisers.

Medialaan CEO Peter Bossaert underscored the importance of online television: "We really see this as an additional service and feel that our viewers appreciate it."

VTM will launch its free online service from next Monday, with its own productions, not purchased programmes. There is also an update planned for the VTM-app, which will allow viewers to watch full episodes on smartphones and tablets.
