Vincent Kompany backs De Morgen initiative

Belgian footballer Vincent Kompany (pictured) used his Facebook page yesterday to announce his full support for the decision of De Morgen newspaper to stop using the word allochtoon, or ‘immigrant’. Kompany, the son of a Congolese father and a Belgian mother, explained that he never wants to hear the word again because it’s “archaic, marginalising and even discriminatory." He calls himself "a true Belgian who is proud to defend his country’s colours.”
