VDSL2 : Belgacom

Question

Hi ,

I have a subscription with Belgacom for TV and Internet .

My living room is very far off , approx 20 mts from the lone 6 pin (VDSL2 socket) phone point i have .

I currently do the below for enabling internet and TV ,

step 1 : On one end i insert a 5 pin phone extension coil (which is 20 mts long) into the 6 pin VDSL 2 socket .

step 2 : On the other end i first insert the 5-6 pin adapter into the socket of the phone extension coil (of step 1) .

step 3 : I fit the VDSL 2 splitter on top of this 5-6 pin adapter (of step 2) .

The rest of the process is normal (connect the blue DSL line between modem and DSL splitter etc) .

This works for me both internet and TV seem to work fine. Internet Browsing speed is fast no problems yet.

Has anybody else tried this approach or has a similar set up ?

Reason i ask this question  is  :

i know i am deviating from the standard and preferred set up as depicted by the Belgacom installation manual so as to suit my requirement. Also, as per Belgacom (i contacted their tech desk and explained it to them) this set up should not work (but it does work !!!).

Will it stop working in future or performance be an issue ?

Not really sure what your problem is.  All you've done is extended the phone line using an extension lead.  If it works, then what's the issue?
