Utah nanny who abused twins to be extradited to Belgium

12:11 15/05/2015

A nanny from Utah in the western United States is to be extradited to Belgium to face child abuse charges over her alleged assault of infant twins in 2011.

Aubrey Alta Anderson, 34, will not contest the extradition order signed by US magistrate Paul Warner Aubrey.

The 2011 incident emerged after the parents took the twins to the hospital when they noticed swelling. X-rays revealed both infants had broken arms. By then, Anderson had fled to the United States.

However, after returning to Utah, Anderson became nanny to the newborn twins of a local couple. Injuries were again discovered in January 2012: the mother and a second nanny took the children to a hospital where a doctor found injuries including broken ankles and ribs of one baby and unusual bruising on the face and arms of the child's twin sister.

Detectives say they focused on Anderson when they realised she was wanted in Belgium on similar charges. In the subsequent Utah court case, Anderson pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony child abuse charges and in June 2013 was given a suspended prison sentence.

I can hardly believe this. Clearly no accidents, more like a conscious targeting off the youngsters to inflict injuries. How come she got away with it the first time anyway?...
