US thanks Belgium to the tune of $800,000

On Tuesday, the US Drug Enforcement Administration presented a check for $800,000 to the Belgian State for its crucial role in the dismantling of a criminal organisation. The presentation took place during a ceremony held by the US Ambassador Howard Gutman. The Antwerp police department was especially lauded for its decisive action in the investigation of the network around Russian mafia leader Riccardo Fanchini, a drug lord who is known for illegal cigarette trafficking and money laundering.
