Turkish Riviera is most popular holiday destination among Belgians

21:55 28/08/2017

Belgian families who booked their holidays with a tour operator this summer primarily opted for all-inclusive beach holidays on the Turkish Riviera, according to a study by tour operators Tui and Thomas Cook. Families with children made up the largest group of Belgians holiday-goers this July and August, writes De Morgen.

Tour operator Tui reports that families with children between the ages of 0 and 18 accounted for as many as 48% of their customers this summer. According to both tour operators, families this year showed a strong preference for all-inclusive hotels in the area of southwest Turkey known as the 'turquoise coast'.

Adults without children are the second most important group, according to TUI, which saw an increase in the number of couples booking trips to Spanish destinations such as Mallorca, Tenerife and Costa del Sol. Thomas Cook customers also chose to visit Spain, with the Canary Island of Tenerife as the most popular destination. However, the Greek island of Crete occupies second place.
