Trip to Tuscany- Rental car agencies

Question

Hello,
We are planning to go to in this summer. we are searching for a good car rental agency from Pisa airport. When we did the research apparently all of them have bad reviews( Europe car, gold car etc). Reviews say agencies either ask more money or will not pay you the money back in case of cancellation. Can anyone recommend any good agencies?

I myself got ripped off by Hertz in Tuscany last year. Do your best to find a locally owned rental agency rather than one of the big internationals. I've never had a good experience with a major firm abroad, but have had much luck with family-owned businesses. (That said, I couldn't find any in Italy, but I was leaving from Venice.)
It's possible that your destination in Tuscany could recommend a local agency to you. And perhaps check with with your current car insurance company about what insurances you should/shouldn't purchase from a rental agency.

I would start reading the tripadvisor forums; the posts there are up to date as to which agencies to avoid, since reputations can whimsically change ; when I went to Alghero, everybody recommended me Sixt. Had no problems whatsoever with them. About a year later, recommended it to a colleague, and they tried to rip him off.

From colleagues and family I have also learned...the cheaper the price you see online when reserving a car, the more potential to get scammed.

Either way, I see the Pisa subgroup is very active on tripadvisor so I would highly suggest you browse through all the posts. I'm yet to be disappointed by the recommendations I've gotten from there on trips throughout the world.

Avoid Goldcar totally. I got charged huge extra fuel admin costs even though car was returned full.
If you are flying with Brussels Airlines or Ryanair, their car rental through Cartrawler is cheaper but I would opt for known company. Their CDW insurance through Axa will save you masses. Make sure fuel is full to full.
