Tickets going fast for Freelancers in Belgium Day

The event this Friday offers a variety of talks to help both new and experienced freelancers, as well as those thinking of taking the plunge. Whether you’re into marketing, translation, event planning or anything else that sees you flying solo, you’ll find a topic of interest during this popular event, which is run by expats and is in English.

Because of the diversity in the freelance field, Freelancers in Belgium Day offers advice on general concerns like irregular income, taxes and building a client base. The opening panel features four freelancers from different fields sharing tips on what challenges they had to overcome and how they manage their day-to-day workload.

Break-out sessions will allow participants to choose one of the freelancers to dig deeper into strategies and practical information. Some successful freelancers who will lead sessions and answer questions directly are Belgian ICT consultant Adrien Willems, entrepreneur coach Judith Escalier Revollo, who hails from Bolivia, and Belgian journalist Linda A Thompson.

Keynote speeches, meanwhile, are being delivered by two long-time self-employed workers: Clo Willaerts (pictured above) is a pioneer in modern digital marketing and a leading voice for women in technology, while Laurent-David Hostyn was a start-up consultant and coach before founding Price Pact.

Willaerts’s talk – How to Become Your Own Swiss Army Knife Marketing Department – offers models and examples of how to market yourself in a digital world, and Hostyn will talk about fees. Maybe yours are too low – or too high.
