Three hurt in hit-and-run at Molenbeek tram stop

A speeding car struck a tram stop in Molenbeek on Saturday evening, injuring three pedestrians.

The two occupants of the French-registered car, believed to be stolen, ran away and are sought by police.

A spokesman for Brussels West police zone said: "The car was driving extremely fast. The driver lost control, mounted the pavement and hit the shelter."

The incident happened at about 20.00 on Saturday at the Van Zande stop on the Chaussée de Gand. The three victims are not said to be in a serious condition.
