IS threatens Belgium in video message

11:50 29/01/2015

Barack Obama, France and “its sister” Belgium are the subject of threats from Islamic State (IS) in a video circulating on the internet.

In the video Islamic State threatens Belgium with attacks. “We are warning you that we will come to you with car bombs and explosives,” states an IS member before talking about beheadings.

In the same video, France and Barack Obama are also picked out for attack.

On Monday, an audio message circulated on the net featuring IS spokesperson Abu Mohammad al-Adnani claiming “We promise Christian strongholds that they will continue to live in a state of terror, fear and insecurity. You haven’t seen anything yet.”

On 15 January, Belgium had already been clearly threatened in a message stating: “There will be more and more of these operations [attacks] in Europe, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, everywhere in Europe and everywhere in America.”
