Thousands of Telenet customers in Brussels without internet and TV

13:01 19/05/2020

Internet service provider Telenet says it is working to fix a major technical fault that has deprived several thousand customers in Brussels of their internet, television and phone since Monday afternoon.

The network outage has affected customers in Molenbeek, Saint-Josse and Brussels-City (including Laeken). It occurred when maintenance workers accidentally cut through a fibre optic cable during roadworks in the city centre.

Technicians have been working through the night, but the operator says the damage is more serious than first thought.

Telenet said it hoped for a return to normal later on Tuesday.
