Thermostats in Belgium
I want to replace an old thermostat. It is in the living room controlling something in the basement (Appartment building). Would like to know if the connection is likely to follow some kind of standard? Also if I might pull power from it?
Of course it is probably a wire-pair, but It is quite fixed, so I it is difficult to check.
You might want to hire a company such as Electricchauf that specializes in this sort of thing (www.electrichauf.be) unless you are quite experienced in such matters.
You would be extremely ill advised to change the apartment thermostat without first consulting with building management who own and manage the heating system of the building. Especially since it appears that your knowledge of such systems is relatively basic. "It is in the living room controlling something in the basement" (sic).
OK well with the additional clear information you've given, get a low voltage replacement thermostat and connect it to something in the basement.
