Table service with waiters at McDonald's Bourse

11:31 27/06/2017

The McDonald's at the Bourse in Brussels has become the first in Belgium to introduce table service.

Food will no longer be pre-made and waiting for customers but cooked on order. The fast-food chain said this means menu items can be tailored to a person’s particular taste: no onion, extra pickles and so on.

Customers place their orders at large terminals with touch-screens, they personalise their order and pay, then they wait at their table for a McDonald's waiter to bring the meal to them.

"The majority of customers respond positively to table service," said Jacques Murs, franchisee of McDonald's on the Rue Neuve and at the Bourse. "This allows them to no longer have to wait for their order in the queue, to find a place to sit without having a tray in their hands, to let the children play in the play area while awaiting the arrival of their order."

The table service has already been tested out in the UK and Malta and will eventually be expanded to all US locations.
