Starbucks expands to more Brussels metro stations

After taking up residence in Montgomery and Louise metros in recent weeks, Starbucks has opened its third metro station outlet in Brussels, this time at the Schuman.

Starbucks has made a home of Brussels since the inception of its Central Station coffee shop back in 2011. In 2012 came the inauguration of another of its outlets at Gare du Nord, and yet another was established at Rogier in 2014.

On 29 June this year, we saw the arrival of Starbucks in Montgomery station, which was shortly followed by an opening at Louise station two weeks later.

Stib spokeswoman Françoise Ledune said: "Starbucks is a brand popular with our travellers and we want to create a kind of network in many metro and pre-metro stations.

"We noticed that customer habits have changed - people do a lot more shopping on the internet and therefore spend less time on shopping streets. The metro stations are an ideal location for establishments like Starbucks."

Starbucks Coffee in Belgium is run under franchise by retail giant Autogrill, which owns over 100 outlets across the country including Delhaize Shop ‘n’ Go and Panos.
