Socialist union promises 'hot autumn' with actions in public sector

Belgium's socialist trade union promises a 'hot autumn' starting in September “in order to highlight the problematic austerity measures of prime minister Charles Michel's government”, warns CGSP, the General socialist Union for Public Services. The union will hit the public sector with a series of protests and strikes, to coincide with the resumption of work in the regional parliaments in late September and culminate in a 'reaction day' on 10 October, writes Het Nieuwsblad.

"Since the autumn of 2014, CGSP is faced with a government policy aimed at reducing public services. Michel's government also carried out a disastrous fiscal policy that wants to make its citizens pay for an economic revival that exists only on paper,” explains CGSP's Chris Reniers in the newspaper.
