Road turns into garbage belt as Pukkelpop kicks off

20:48 16/08/2017

Belgium's annual alternative music festival Pukkelpop kicked off on Wednesday as ticket-holders to the four-day event arrived in droves. The main road leading into the festival terrain in Hasselt was littered with garbage by early afternoon, writes Het Nieuwsblad.

Empty cans, food scraps and other waste quickly paved the way to the Pukkelpop entrance. While some volunteers made an effort to clean up the mess, chances are small that the litter will decrease in the coming days.

The Limburg festival welcomes about 180,000 visitors every year and features nearly 200 acts.
