Residency requirement

Question

Had no answer, so reposting my question:
Would anyone know for sure: with a 1 year renewable residence permit in Belgium, what is the residency requirement? Ie, what is the maximum time in a year that one can be outside Belgium, travelling, for work, whatever?

Are the rules different if the permit is issued to a pensioner who effectively comes to Belgium to retire - what are the residency requirements then?

Thank you very much for any concrete information.

Your question is exactly clear, but as far as I know, there is no maximum.

i.e., there's nothing stopping you being resident here, even if you're not actually living here at all. However, to be resident, you need an address, and you are also liable to taxation.

However, if you go and visit or work in another country for long periods of time, then that country may consider you resident there as well.
