Is this really my responsibility as a tenant? Pls help me if you know!

Question

Hello, I have a landlord who just told me that the non-functioning intercom in my apartment down to the entrance/main door is my responsibility. I have lived here 4 years and it stopped working last week. Is this my responsibility to pay for the reparation of this or is it his? As far as I'm concerned, there is no maintenance to be done on intercoms, nor have I done something intentional to damage it.
I buy a service from him (accomodation) and expect things to work - I dont want to get stuck with his repair bill.

Are there any Belgians that can help me with advice please?

I

Not sure, but our door bell which covers 3 floors broke. We were told to fix it, we did it just in time for the etat de lieu de sortie, the expert confirmed to us it was our responsibility to fix it and we would have been charged for it if we hadn't done it before the inspection.
.
I suspect an intercom is not going to be seen as a large maintenance task like a leaking roof that the landlord would be obliged to fix, or a completely broken and unfixeable washing machine included on an état de lieu which the landlord would be obliged to replace.
