Rail strike affecting SNCB, Eurostar and Thalys services

12:04 09/10/2015

A rail strike in the Brussels region is affecting trains across Belgium, as well as international services to London, Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne.

The walkout by drivers at Belgian rail operator SNCB began at 22.00 on Thursday and runs until the end of Friday evening.

There are no Eurostar services departing or arriving in Brussels today, with trains from the UK terminating at Lille-Europe instead. Thalys trains to France, Germany and the Netherlands are also cancelled.

Eurostar and Thalys passengers can exchange their tickets at no cost or have them refunded.

Calling from Belgium, the Eurostar call centre number is 02.400.67.31 and Thalys can be reached on 07.079.79.79.

For domestic routes, the SNCB says it will provide real-time updates via its app, the website www.belgianrail.be (available in English) and displays on trains and in stations.

The rail operator has condemned the strike action, which it describes as "very damaging, in the immediate and long term".
