Radiator maintenance
Hello!
I am removing the bubbles from the radiators just before winter comes. Lower floor and mid floor is fine. Bubbles got removed and water started running and I closed them. However, at the top floor bubbles are removed but no sign of water in the radiators. Can it be
1. a pump problem as it does not pump up to the top floor?
2. a calcaire problem that there is blockage?
Is there anything I can try before calling the chauffage man?

Check the pressure in the boiler. There is normally a small pressure meter and a tap, sometimes 2 taps in line. Open tap(s) and you should see pressure rise. Then bleed radiators again. If there is a major loss of water in the system you may need to do this more than once if pressure drops down again.
You need to put more water in the system.
To add to what has already been said, always bleed radiators in order from the highest above ground level and on downwards.
Agree with the others, always start at the highest radiator in the house and work your way down, and check the pressure levels after each radiator has been bled.
You should find somewhere near your boiler (usually close to a red expansion tank) a gauge that looks like the first picture on this page.

It should have a valve either side of it.
Open both valves and allow water pressure to get rise to approx 1.5 bar. (or there may be a green area marked on the gauge, or a black indicator showing the correct value)
