Question

I work for a company that is small and has no HR person.
I am due to have a baby in April and heard that there was a prime de naissance for about 80 euros that your employer should give you.
Does anyone know where I can find information on this? We use Securex, but can't find anything on their web site.

Thank you

Lack of HR dept no problem. You can get the information from the person or the dept in charge of payroll preparation.Good luck with the baby.

There are several different premiums on child birth paid by different organisations. Normally as employee you are entitled to allocations naissance paid by la caisse d'allocations familiales (www.onafts.be). This premium is requested and paid through your husband employer, or if you are not married (legal cohabitation + paternity declared by the father in the commune will count as marriage in this case), or if the father does not work in Belgium, through your employer. The amount depends on under which Labour agreement you work, but it is usually around 1000euros (one time payment). The same organisation (ONAFTS) pays the monthly family allowance. This allowance is also requested by the father (the payment is usually done dierectly to the mother though) through his employer. The amount is 83e/month for the first child, 154e/m for second child and 230e/m of 3rd and upwards. The amount of children is calculated by household, so even if it is your first born, if your partner has children who live with you, they will be counted in. As the earlier answer says, the person responsable of your payroll, should be able to help you with the paperwork

In addition many communes pay different type of premiums. This can be money allowance (usually very small) or for example check cadeau for baby seat, buggies or other baby equipments. For details, and how to request the premium, you should check with your commune.

Also some mutuality companies pay extra premiums. For example Euromut has prime de naissance of 350e for those with Euromut+ contract. For details you should check with your mutualite.

Gongratulations and good luck with the delivery!
