Question
To the classified ad owner of the beagle I write an open question and advice.I see you are now offering 150 euro to have the dog for a month if I read right?you really want to rehome .you are going away for a month?you would not get a months kennel for that amount.Sonia morgen has a field for her kennel dogs and great care.I am really trying to be non judgmental because of your baby, but really. For a 6 year old difficult dog you must have had kennel care before. Then you have a breathing space to decide what is best. She advertisers on classified, keyword english,I have no connection except as a customer.

Poor doggy, another victim of the sudden arrival of a baby, why do people take dogs when they know, they are going to have a family and intend to get rid of the poor thing when the baby arrives. Surely, it would be better not to have pets at all, they are not objects to be disgarded when the children arrive!

Yes, another victim of a fashion. Get the dog for the wife, but then when she is pregnant, she wants to get rid of it! If she is like that with a dog, what will it be with a baby, much more demanding, but then we live in a world, where items get discarded when they are no longer interesting, no room for feelings. I had 5 children, no car, a dog and a cat and managed with a husband away in the armed forces, so what is your problem, my dear?

this is a very difficult dog from the profile given, and then to ask for 150 euros for the upkeep is just but a joke; the dog eats up everything he lays his eyes on, so he needs constant monitoring or he chews up all your clothes for 150 euros, poor doggy
However,is there no better and more decent way to get rid f an unwanted dog, than resoring to this?

To haha, I think you have made a mistake, the owners are giving 150 euros to the person who takes the beagle on. Even if he is difficult, the baby is not yet born, so how do they know he will be jealous, I feel so sorry for the poor dog.

`My owners will be leaving for a month starting sometime in March of this year. I will need someone to watch after me while they are gone.If you are interested in keeping me for a while, my owners will provide you with everything you need (kennel, food, toys, etc) and 150 euros for your time.
If you do fall in love with me, my owners will consider letting me stay with you ----``
to anon; the dog is saying his owners are going for a month----

ann, please, the owner had posted in classified a few days before and wanted to let the dog go for good though the man loved* it.Then quickly changed to (we are going away} ,now I feel for the safety of the baby, the wife who is probably just trying to cope and the poor animal who has been spoiled, badly trained and now wanted out.
I myself have had a dog and baby but the dog was sound and trained and NEVER left alone with the baby who is now adult.I think the owners do need to rehome perhaps but it is the way they are going about it plus with all the homeless dogs just now increasing makes me think it won't be an happy outcome.Kennels are also more than 150 for a month!

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I'd no more get rid of my dogs than get rid of the baby!
Who the heck is is going to clean the floors as thoroughly as the dogs will? ;-)

That classified ad has an email address at the bottom of the text. Shouldn't you write to the ad poster instead of bashing him in public?

I agree with the last anon. Yet again we have people who don't necessarily know the facts, but have got nothing better to do than make assumptions. If you are so concerned, write to the person directly. I actually think the owner is pretty honest as she clearly explains what the dog is like, what you'd be are taking on. I have had dogs all my life, difficult and easy ones, but have met many dog owners (like some mothers) who would never admit there to be any problem with the animal.

Perhaps use the 150 euros to get in a dog trainer who would work with the whole family. If the dog was better behaved then the situation would be totally manageable. I have young children and a dog and the dynamic is fantastic and the children have learnt to respect and care for the dog. I think it would be a real shame to send the dog away and a missed opportunity for the child to grow up without a pet.

To all you judgmental people out there. We too have a dog and children. We too love our dog. He has been with us for 3 years. Now, after three years, we finally found out that all the wheezing, runny eyes, problem breathing and host of other things that one of my children is experiencing aren't due to cleaning agents, washing powders, house mites, pollen etc. but a DOG ALLERGY! And now we are at wits end. We can't keep him and we can't give him away. So what is the solution?
Outr advice to all expectant mothers out there. Don't keep a dog until you've checked that your child hasn't a dog allergy otherwise you will live a nightmare afterwards!
