Protest Picnic expands to Ixelles and Molenbeek

11:54 20/08/2013

"Pic Nic the Streets", the citizen's movement calling for a less car-focused mobility policy in Brussels, is expanding to other parts of the city.  The first mass street picnic took place for the first time in June last year with a huge turnout on Boulevard Anspach, in front of the Brussels Stock Exchange. The organisers' aim is to make the area in front of the Stock Exchange completely free of cars. The city of Brussels, meanwhile, already promised that the square would be pedestrianised by 2015. Now organisers are turning their attention towards other parts of the city, with plans for similar street picnics in the communes of Ixelles and Molenbeek.
