Problem with External Hard Drive

Question

Hello,

I have a Lacie external hard drive (big one that needs to big plugged in), which I've had for over a year.
A couple of days ago it would work for about half an hour and then make windows explorer crash. Now it will barely work for one minute and make windows explorer crash. I can't access the files, let alone copy any of the files onto my computer.
As soon as I switch off the hard drive, explorer is fine.
I've used/tried it on both my laptops, one which is Vista and the other Windows 7; and the same crash happens on each, so it must be the hard drive.

I don't really know anything about computers or hard drives, so any advice would be very welcome!

I have so much on my external hard drive, I really hope there's a way to fix this!

Thanks.

First of all, recover your all data from your external hard drive and transfer it onto your computer. If you can't see your hard drive on your PC then you need to download a software to recover the data. Here's a software link, you may download the software and then click on "recover my disk" as soon as you see your external hard drive connected on this software then click next and it will start recovering your data. But first try to recover the data without downloading the software.http://www.recovermyfiles.com/ppc-3.php&gclid=CLvfiuj7qLECFYcNfAodGXoAfQ
As soon as you recover your data, then try to reformat your hard disk drive choose the format "NTFS" and normally it should work. If your data is recovered then try to claim for warranty. Normally it should be under warranty, make sure that it's still under warranty. If you need more help then plz don't hesihate to write.
