Police told to lay off Dutch vehicles

Belgian police have been officially notified not to issue tickets to Dutch vehicles, reports Het Laatste Nieuws. All European numberplates can be identified via a new piece of software, the Eucaris system – however, no treaty has been signed with the Netherlands about this, rendering all tickets issued to Dutch vehicles legally null and void. The Federal Public Service for Mobility hopes to ratify a treaty with the Netherlands before the end of the year, while a blanket European treaty is expected by 2014.
