Paint

Question

Planning on repainting the interior of my apartment.

Paint is expensive here in Brussels, no?

I believe it can be bought cheaper in NL or DE. Can anyone provide me with some store names?

Much appreciated. Thank you.

You can buy Crown Professional paints at Paint Trade Center, which are far better quality than most of the stuff sold in DIY shops . Their prices are very reasonable.

Yup! For some reason, paint is ridiculously expensive here.

If you fancy a quick trip to the UK, you can buy paint at a fraction of the cost at any B&Q. There is one literally 1km from the Channel Tunnel terminal in Folkstone. Even better if you can get into somewhere like TradePoint which is even better pricing, but limited to business/trade buyers.

I completely repainted interior and exterior of my house a couple of years back and including the channel tunnel trip and petrol expenses, still saved a significant amount over what I would have paid here.

You can also get paint much cheaper in Luxembourg, worth doing if you need a lot and I needed to do a three story house. Paint is ridiculously expensive in Belgium.

There is a surplus brico store at, 106 Rue de Birmingham
Anderlech; Brussels. It is called Tax Free company. The paint there is cheap; they sell overstocked stuff, so we got the paint at half price of what you would pay at other stores in Belgium. I would go check it out and see what they have.

Otherwise, a colleague said he went to Leroy Merlin in Charleville-Mézières and paint he said was cheaper than in Belgium. They have the prices online. http://bit.ly/1BYSIxH

Broccoli do offer a discount card where you buy it for €50 then get 10% off all year. They sometimes do deals on paint. There colours of the world paint is pretty reasonable quality. However as stated it's. Still pricey. Also if you're renting and wanting to change the colour of a wall get written permission or you will be charged when you leave if if the walls were well overdue painting and grotty grey not white. We only got verbal permission and got fined a huge amount!
