Outrageous water bill

Question

Has anyone had an experience with an OUTRAGEOUSLY high water bill? We were unaware we had a leaky toilet untill we recieved a 700 euro water bill. The landlord fixed it right away but we were still stuck with the bill. Will anything come out of disputing the payment?

You could try discussing it with the landlord but I doubt it will change anything. In rented apartments it is the tenants' responsibility to keep an eye on the facilities you use daily (toilet, boiler, etc) and ensure they are maintained. In fact many landlords in Belgium would have turned round and told you to fix the toilet yourself. It's kind of hard to believe you could not have spotted the leaky toilet because either there would have been water all over the floor, or a lot of dripping with water going through the cistern all the time.

You’ve dreamed of them – they can be yours. On the second-hand market, these relatively recent models only cost a fraction of their original value. So, rather than buy a reliable German turbo sedan, why not plump for one of these titans...
