The electro-pop singer Oscar and The Wolf (pictured) was the big winner at the Flemish Music Industry Awards MIAs, taking home awards for best live act, best pop and best solo man.

This 11th edition of the MIAs was one of many firsts, with a record number of wins for female artists as well the arrival of a new award category.

Blanche, who placed fourth when representing Belgium in the 2016 Eurovision contest, picked up two awards for hit of the year and breakthrough for her 'City Lights' single. The popular Belgian singer Melanie De Biasio took an award home for auteur/composer, while the popular Antwerp singer and rapper Coely won the award for solo woman.

This year also marked the arrival of a new 'urban' category at the Flemish awards show, with nominees like hip-hop acts Zwangere Guy, Romeo Elvis, Brihang and Coely, who took the award home.

Other winners included Bazart for best group and Dutch-language, and Lost Frequencies for dance. Veteran Flemish folk singer Raymond van het Groenewoud won a Lifetime Achievement Award for an impressive musical career spanning four decades and 30 albums.
