orthodontists over here

Question

Hello. A couple of the children in my daughter's class (aged8/9 yrs) have braces fitted on their teeth (they are called "train tracks" apparently)

My daughter has now been referred to an orthodontist by our dentist.

Before we go, can I just ask if it is normal to have braces fitted at this age? In my day (in UK), you had to be 12 yrs or so, ie you had to wait until the adult teeth had settled in.

Have things changed or is treatment different over here? Thanks in advance for any advice!

J

The orthodontist will have a look and tell you what treatment is needed, when it should start, how much it will cost, and should answer all your questions (probably in excellent English) at the first appointment. Do ask though.
