One million tablets sold in Belgium in 2012
Around 980,000 tablet computers were sold in Belgium last year, reports Telecompaper. This is triple the number sold the previous year, according to research bureau GfK Retail and Technology. By the end of last year, one in three Belgian households owned a tablet, compared to 13% the year before. The number of smartphones sold rose by 65% to 1.97 million, with smartphone penetration increasing to 42% from 35%. Smartphones now account for half of all mobile phones sold. GfK stated that the saturation point for smartphones was quickly approaching and expects mobile device sales to come under pressure this year due to the economic crisis.
