One of Charleroi attack victims is a Muslim

15:35 10/08/2016

Islamic State yesterday reiterated that it was behind Saturday's machete attack in Charleroi, in which case the terrorist group is responsible for seriously injuring a Muslim woman, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

"We do not know why the offender attacked my sister,” says the victim's brother in the newspaper. The 44-year-old Hakima Dhamna has been working for the Charleroi police for 15 years. She was born in Algeria, as was the terrorist who entered the police station on Saturday and attacked Hakima and her colleague with a machete.

Hakima was injured from ear to ear, and has already undergone an initial reconstructive surgery. "It's going much better with my sister," assures her brother. "Hakima is a Rambo. She is strong. She's now stronger than ever."

The victim yesterday received a visit in hospital from King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. The royal couple also visited the police station in Charleroi, in a show of support for police agents across the country.
