Océade closure confirmed for 30 September
Océade water park next to the Atomium will close for good on 30 September, management have confirmed.
The attraction, which employs 67 staff, is making way for a new leisure development on the Heysel site, Neo, which will include shops, a Kinepolis cinema and Spirouland theme park.
Staff were informed of the closure date on Friday at a general meeting with management. Their future had been uncertain since 2013 when plans for the new project were confirmed.
In late 2016, the park was given a two-year reprieve while talks continued about integrating Océade into the Neo development. Mini-Europe will be saved, but the rest of the Bruparck village will be demolished.
Océade attracted about a quarter of a million visitors a year, making it the third most-visited attraction in Brussels.

Total srupidity killing a golden goose off in order to build more shops especially keeping mini europe is risiculous the visitor numbers dont compare
Ocean was a good water park. We liked it. The changing rooms were good, the wave pool were good. The restaurant area around that complex quite old fashioned and bad quality. Mini Europe was also old fashioned. Keeping Oceade in the new shopping area is a better idea.
Unless they actually did something about the groups of local youths that tended to hang out there, in general running, pushing, shouting and harassing people, can't say it's really a great loss.
