OBGYN Brussels

Question

Can someone recommend a good English speaking OBGYN in Brussels. My preferences are St Luc or St Jean Hospital.

I know that Dr Hutchings is very good but as of January he is working in Edith Cavell Clinic where I already had one experience and I am underwhelmed with the place therefore I want to change the hospital and the doctor.

It's nor related to your question, but if you don't mind, would you share your experience with Edith Cavell? I also go there and am very interested in other opinions.

I had my delivery there which in terms of procedure was just fine. However I was (to say the least) underwhelmed with the treatment and facilities. When you ask for double bed room you find a whole where you can barely enter and almost jump from one bed to another. You go to the toilet/bathroom and you see one very very old sink and one even older toilet.. you wonder to take a shower and they tell you that it is down the hall where everyone else uses it (disgusting!).

Private rooms are also without showers and/or baths. However you can find a room with shower; only if you pay more than 130 euros per a night for that "luxury". Private Rooms are simply modest and this is an overestimation.

Also it is not true that everyone speaks English there. The level of English speaking employees is as same as in any other hospital. There can be a chance that one night you don't find an English speaking nurse and you have to sweat struggling with your poor poor French.

And don't get me started on prices.. It is the most expensive hospital in Brussels. I still have vertigo when i remember how much I had to pay the doctor's fees that I don't even remember coming visiting me. Oh yes they did.. knocked on the door opened the door did not enter at all but from the hall shouted "ca va madame" then closed the door and left, but in the bill they gave triple the honorary for the "check up" they made on me.

Aaaa yes! kinesitherapeutiste came every day and every time it was the same story.. Putting hands in the pocket with "ups i forgot my cream" story (again) than messing around in my gift box to find any kind of baby lotion tester and massaging my legs with that (and that same thing happened every day - 4 days in a row) . For that thing too, I paid huge amount of money...

I simply don't want to get back there and pay the fortune and not be satisfied at all. I hear stories of my friends in ordinary hospitals that are brilliant. I saw few cases where friends were in common rooms (in edith cavell they still are with 4 beds while this is in-existent in other hospitals - common rooms are with 2 beds) and they had perfect treatment. Even if you go in private rooms in other hospitals, the price that you pay eventually is at least half of the one you get in Edith Cavell.

I still wait for someone to respond with any kind of recommendation for a good OBGYN.

Good luck to others with Edith Cavell and i really do hope that your experiences will be much better than mine.
