Non-EU spouse of Belgian travel together to UK

Question

Hi,

My wife is non-EU and I am Belgian national. She has Carte F
I have learned that when travelling with me she does not need a visa to enter UK.
Can anyone experimented this?

Thanks,

Your spouse will need to apply for a family permit to travel along with you to the UK.

https://www.gov.uk/family-permit

Although you may read on various fora that your spouse may not need a visa whilst travelling with you, sometimes border officials can get cranky and will give you a hard time. Better to apply for this permit and enjoy your holiday there. Its free and should be fast to obtain anyway.

Ignore all of above.
The ruling last year meant that now F CARDS are sufficient and the EEA family permit is no longer absolutely obligatory.
Please also travel with your marriage certificates.
And don't forget your passports :-)

You can of course still get the EEA family permit, if you want.

Oh and also bring a composition de menage with you, very handy too.

And, if your wife is refused entry, just tell them that Shortof said that she would be allowed in!
The reality is that you should never, ever, ever rely on this kind of website for answers to such critical questions. If you get a wrong answer - no matter how sincerely it is believed to be true - you are stuck.
Apply for a visa. If you don't need one you will be told and you will have OFFICIAL proof if needed.

EU Directive means if you have all that stuff, you cannot be refused admission and must be treated under freedom of movement rights.
EEU family permit is NOT a visa.

Use information SHORTOF.

After reading the EU legislation we did the trip without the VISA and EEA permit. Just passports and composition de menage. Not sure if this will still work post Brexit but it was smooth in Brussels-Midi.
