Canadian Embassy (Brussels) real person contact

Question

Canadian here dealing with my fellow Canadian embassy in Brussels
Since the move to the new embassy location you can only contact them via e-mail or an automated phone number which directs you to e-mail them....and when you e-mail you get an automated e-mail reply stating we will get back to you within 10 business days.....I am wondering if anyone has a real contact person there that is in the Consular Section.....
Cheers for the help
Happy New Year everyone !

Nope! But that being said, they have been very prompt in contacting me after the first robo-mail, even the same day.

The whole system is really impersonal - not at all about "Canadians helping Canadians". My 20 year old son was turned away at the security desk when trying to drop off his passport application. They wouldn't allow him to deliver it and make sure he had all the correct paperwork without an appointment. Even though his passport had been stolen, he was traveling within the month and Consular services emergency hotline told him to "go directly to the embassy". He had to travel on his Belgian passport back to Canada and got his passport within 5 business days in Montreal - without an appointment.

You can't tell me consular services is so busy that can't answer questions at drop off...;

Hello LIVIN'IN LEUVEN..........couldn't agree more...they need to actually have a real live person either on the end of the phone or when you pop in to the embassy as in the past.......The appointment system is rather overly complicated...most people just need a quick hello here are my documents, here is the payment...everything looks good and out of there...5 minutes max.......maybe I am being too logical though.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with your criticisms. Yes, it’s changed but it’s not really difficult. Since they’ve moved location I’ve had to visit for passport renewals twice and have another one upcoming next week. On each occasion I’ve written a short email requesting an appointment for passport renewal. Specify if it is urgent, what day/time of day works best. In each case they got back to me immediately with a auto confirmation that the request was received and within a couple of days with a date and time for the appointment. You need to click on the link to confirm your attendance. The whole process takes only a few minutes. All the forms are available online along with detailed directions. Photos (very specific requirements) can be done at Photo Galerie av des Celtes (google for details). Did you try calling the consular section? If you did you would get a message that tells you that in emergency you can be connected directly to Ottawa by pressing 2. Also that you can request an appointment by leaving a message on 02.741.0748. Be happy that we still have consular services here...our British friends have to either go to the UK or Paris. This new process is for security reasons and once you’ve done it it’s not so bad. I don’t like that I have to check in 2-3 hours before a flight, can’t take liquids, etc etc but it’s the new normal. And you will not require an appointment to pick up docs on Mon, Wed, Fri 14-15h. Good luck, eh?!
