Nike to create 539 jobs in Belgium

06:00 18/12/2015

American sportswear giant Nike has announced it will recruit 539 new employees for its Belgian distribution centres and one new store, due to open in mid-2016. The growth is mainly due to increasing interest in running and running shoes, report various Belgian media.

Nike's four European distribution centres in Belgium are “bursting at the seams”, according to the company, which is currently constructing a new store in Ham, in Limburg province. With room to stock 15 million pairs of shoes, the store in Ham will provide at least 220 permanent positions.

Every year, about 180 million Nike sporting goods are sent from Belgian distribution centres to more than 50,000 customers across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Due to increased interest in jogging worldwide, running shoes remain the number one best-selling product of the popular American brand.
