New train schedule sees more Brussels connections

Dec 6, 2017
0

Next Sunday, 10 December, rail authority SNCB will launch its new schedule, which includes several more S trains running through Brussels. Schaerbeek and Forest-Est in particular will see more trains.

All trains on the S1 route that travels from Antwerp to Nivelles will now stop at both Schaerbeek and Forest-Est; currently only half of them do. This will increase connections between Schaerbeek and the North-South stations by one more per hour on weekdays, putting it up to five per hour.

At Forest-Est, this will see an increase of one S1 train per hour to two. The line will also run on the weekends with the same frequency as on weekdays.

All trains on the S4 line, meanwhile, which connects the west of Brussels (Sint-Agatha-Berchem and Jette) to the European Quarter, will go as far as Vilvoorde, via Evere and Haren. Currently, the line stops at Merode outside of peak commuter hours.

Others lines that run through Brussels – including the S2 between Leuven and Braine-le-Comte and the S3 between Dendermonde and Oudenaarde – will run later into the evening. And the S5 from Mechelen to Geraardsbergen – which passes through several Brussels stations, including Schuman, Etterbeek and Boondael – will now run on the weekends.

The new schedule also includes a few tweaks to the current timetable, so passengers are advised to check their routes before heading out on Monday.
