New traffic sign officially unveiled

12:32 14/08/2013

A new sign, known as F45b, will make its official  entry into the Belgian traffic code on August 18, reports Centrex, the police’s traffic information centre. The sign, which signals a dead end “except for pedestrians and cyclists”, had already been tested in some communes  in Brussels and Flanders. A royal decree about the new road sign was issued on this matter on August 8 and will come into force on August 18. Centrex stresses that the exception for cyclists and pedestrians does not extend to mopeds, motorcycles and other vehicles of the same type. While the new sign is now official, the decision to put it up – or not, as the case may be – rests with communes.
