New Nato headquarters cost over €1 billion
Belgium's King Philippe and Prime Minister Charles Michel on Thursday officially transferred the new headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) to the Alliance. Michel called it a symbol that Nato needs at this time. "I am convinced that Nato can make a difference, and will continue to do so," he said.
The sprawling new headquarters is a futuristic construction made of steel, concrete and glass, with eight floors and a total area of about 25 football fields. The design of the heavily guarded building evokes eight interlaced fingers. It cost just over €1.1 billion and will house some 4,500 employees. Belgium played a crucial role in its construction, according to Michel.
The new headquarters today received the Heads of State and Government of the 28 Nato Member States, including US President Donald Trump and Belgium's King Philippe. The building will only be fully operational after the summer due to delays with its computer systems.

Does anyone know what was the problem with the existing headquarters, and why we had spend 1,1bn euro on a new building? What we need, Prime Minister Michel, is for countries like Belgium to spend their fair share on defence and stop piggy backing on other countries.
Ah yes, a "fair share". That is the call of those in the USA who demand that the likes of the British London mayor pays in to the US tax system. How about our fair share be reduced by not supporting the US military complex that relies on never ending war with countries that are not invading the USA?
