New medical centre to open in Brussels central station

11:42 20/04/2015

Brussels Quality Medical (BQM) will open Belgium’s first medical centre in a public transport hub, Metro reports. The new medical centre, set to open in the Brussels central metro station in early May, will cater to commuters and workaholics who continue to postpone a doctor’s visit due to time constraints, thereby neglecting their own health.

BQM is a network of clinics across Brussels that offers high-level, affordable health services. “Our goal is to provide the same level of medicine as in the more wealthy communities and private centres,” explains CEO Patrick Van Achter in Metro.

According to BQM, which teamed up with public transport company STIB for the initiative, additional centres will follow provided the pilot project is successful.

The new centre will be staffed by three nurses, two doctors and four receptionists. Its hours are from 6.30 until 19.00 on weekdays, and on Saturday morning. The cost of a visit is comparable to a regular doctor's visit.

Van Achter dreams of setting up a comprehensive network of accessible medical centres across the city. "If commuters react positively, two more centres may open up this year in Brussels.”
