Molenbeek forbids alcohol use after 22.00

13:23 21/09/2012

Anyone caught drunk or drinking alcohol in public in the Brussels suburb of Molenbeek after 22.00 will be fined, says Molenbeek mayor Philippe Moureaux (PS) (pictured), reports La Libre. The new law comes just weeks away from local elections, instigating criticism from other parties, which claim that prevention should come before punishment. The idea is not new in Brussels, as Brussels Mayor Freddy Thielemans (PS) just a few days ago announced his desire to ban the sale of alcohol in the capital’s night shops after 22.00.
