Meeting gays

Question

Hi all,
Any of the LGBT community here have any suggestions for how the heck to meet other gays? Not for hook-ups, just for social stuff - Brussels seems to be totally lacking in stuff like that. Unfortunately I'm not really into sports (I tried BGS already) and really not into the bar scene AT ALL. Or rather it's not into me (perhaps!)
Any (constructive) suggestions welcome!

Miguel

Hello, maybe with a little bit more of information from your side it is easier to provide tips and suggestions. How long ago did you arrive here to Brussels? What is your age (approximately)? What are your interests: Art? Music? Cooking? Volunteering?

Some ideas:
Become a supporter of the rugby team (www.facebook.com/straffeketten) and join their social events
Join the BGS choir
Join an NGO or organisation

It's Pink Screens in November - an annual festival of gay movies, very varied movies.
The festival is a labor of love by the organizers and they need volunteers:

I guarantee you'll meet interesting people. And ig you've never been to the Nova Theatre you're in for something special.

OP here.
In response to Miguel's comment.....
I'm nearly 40, have been in Brussels coming up for 12 years.
Cooking is kind of an interest yes. NGO might be a possibility I guess.
I'm not musical at all and can't sing for sh*t :)
I guess an NGO or volunteering might be a possibility thought.
Own interests, food and drink I guess, the cinema (not acting myself though), languages, travel. Sports generally but to be honest a lot of the BGS stuff is not my thing at all so that's not possible
To be honest I find organised gay stuff pretty intimidating because of how I look so I think Straffe Ketten not really my thing at all ;) Plus anything rugby related, I'm traumatised from having to play it at school.

For what you mention as interest, the idea of helping the pink screens sounds like a good one to me. I have helped different events and activities and always had a great time and met interesting people. Check as well if the Swim for Life needs volunteers, that is coming end of November as well.
They have a group inside the rainbow house to gather volunteers to support the LGBT activities they organise, called the Free Hands (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1712934185657500/)

And regarding your trauma with rugby, as president of the Straffe Ketten I can tell you that we are happy to welcome you at our social activities to help you overcome any ghosts from your past :)
