MAD Brussels to design new uniforms for city staff

06:15 07/01/2016

MAD Brussels, an emerging hub for specialists in the fashion and design industry, has been tasked with creating new uniforms for City of Brussels staff. All of the city's employees who come in contact with the public will be fitted with new designer uniforms. The goal is to highlight the role of the staff as modern ambassadors of the city, writes Brusselnieuws.

Brussels aldermen Philippe Close and Geoffroy Coomans de Brachène on Friday will unveil the new outfits, which include eight different designs and colours for eight occupational categories.

The new uniforms will be worn by staff at the public works department, the municipal cleaning services, public building cleaning services, park and landscape crew, logistics employees, parking enforcement officers, childcare workers and market supervisors.

Every profession will have its own colour, but all uniforms will sport the city's Saint Michael logo and the website brussels.be.

Again, an example of this city not getting its priorities right.

Ask residents what is more important.... the uniforms that city workers wear OR cleaning up the graffiti (like the MAD example above) which blight this dirty, pot-holed, traffic-strangled city....

What were Messrs Close and Coomans thinking?

It's one ill-conceived initiative after another from this useless city administration ...

I totally agree. Does anyone even realize that different departments wear different uniforms? Who cares??????????? Yes, this might be important for a park warden so we can recognize the warden BUT BUT BUT, it is NOT important for logistics employees, childcare workers, market supervisors, and most everyone else to have a special and new uniform. This is outrageous! Put the money on cleaning up the dirty city. Belgium gets it wrong every single time! They have no common sense and fritter money away on stupid things.
